After serving in the US Navy, Ronald D. Ellison began his career with Turfway Park in Kentucky as security director, supervising 25 employees and payroll.

As a detective, he worked for the investigative agency of the Thoroughbred Racing Association to enforce the rules of racing in order to protect the integrity of the sport and as an investigator with the Kentucky State Racing Commission, where he worked closely with state, county and local law enforcement agencies to uphold the rules of racing and the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

He moved to Myrtle Beach in 1990, as the Director of Security for the 304 units, Yachtsman Resort. In 1992, Ellison became vice president of operations for the firm. His overall responsibilities are the supervising of the property operations for all the homeowners associations, maintenance, engineering, grounds, pool care, housekeeping and security. He oversees a staff of 98 employees, and provides attentive and responsible support.

Ellison is a Certified Manager of Community Associations, and Association Management Specialist by the National Board of Community Association Managers, and Professional Community Association Manager by the Community Associations Institute.

He has been certified in air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical wiring and operation of computerized office equipment.

Ellison is a Certified Hospitality Supervisor by the American Hotel and Motel Association, as Level 1 Security Instructor and Level 1 & 2 Security Firearms Instructor by the SC Law Enforcement Division.

He also serves as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for Horry County.
